BIO FERRARINI'S FARM

ABOUT US

The Bio Ferrarini farm was founded in 1997 by my sister’s and my passion for agriculture but above all for the desire to produce healthy, sustainable, and high-quality food.
With an area of about 150 ha, we rise in Mirandola, near Modena, an area highly suited for the production of fruit and vegetables.
We embrace the principles of organic farming since the birth of our company, operating in full respect for the environment and nature, which together with transparency and genuineness represent our company’s mission.
In addition to the organic one, our passion and our commitment have allowed us to obtain other certifications: Biosuisse, Naturland, Global G.A.P., and G.R.A.S.P. So we do not only support good agricultural practices but also social ones, thus guaranteeing our workers constant health and safety.

Eager to reconnect with nature, we have also undertaken the process for the Demeter brand, a synonym of respect and attention to the natural rhythms of the earth. At the base of biodynamic agriculture, there is, in fact, the desire to create a synergy between nature, humans, and animals. This has as its objective the management of the soil without the use of synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides thus promoting the growth of plants in a rich and vital soil, and naturally fertilized. All this translates into a lower environmental impact and greater food safety.

Hence the choice to cover a part of the land with hedges and groves and to enrich the company with the breeding of donkeys from which we obtain natural fertilizer to be used in the cultivation of our plants.
To date, we grow garlic, red onion, white onion, yellow onion, shallot, green beans, and potatoes according to the methods of organic farming, which reflect the values in which we believe. In fact, our products are grown without chemical and synthetic additives and this allows us to bring to the tables of our consumers the flavors and aromas of the past but at the same time healthy foods, aimed at protecting their health.

OUR PRODUCTS

STRING BEAN

Green beans are our historical crop. Our family started their production in 1968 and has never stopped since, and every year we always aim at optimizing quality and production. Over the years we have managed to produce beautiful, good, and tasty green beans, all from Biodynamic cultivation!

ONION

Onions have been a challenge since the very beginning! We wanted and still want to produce onions with the flavors of the past that are not only full of water and tasteless. Our continuous research in the production with biodynamic methods allows us to produce White, Yellow, and Red onions that do not wither as soon as they land on the kitchen counter, but stay fresh for quite some time!

GARLIC

We take care of our products, in particular our garlic. In fact, we carry out manually all the post-harvest processing, in order to bring good, ethical, and healthy garlic to consumers’ tables!
Biodynamic production also gives garlic all the characteristics that our grandmothers look for when they use it in their cooking! We care about our culinary traditions, that’s why we produce both dry garlic and fresh garlic, ideal in salads, but above all grated on a nice bruschetta!

SHALLOT

“If you want to be cool, use shallots!” as a famous Chef would say! And we feel a bit cool! This is why shallot has become a crop of ours for several years now! Have you ever tried a biodynamic shallot? NO? ! Then you should definitely try ours! Sweet, tasty, and BIO!

POTATO

Who doesn’t like potatoes? Fried, baked, or boiled, it doesn’t matter! Our varieties are Full Cooking! To the whole kitchen! The intensity of the yellow of their flesh and a skin so thin that you don’t even need to peel off, are just some of its beauty traits! But their Biodynamic heart does not lie! It is also tasty, with the true flavor of the Panaro potato! Seeing is believing!

WHEAT

Grains have always been the number one crop of any population! Hard, soft, or Saracen, for those who do not want to know about gluten! These are the varieties we produce and from which we get flour and pasta! And every now and then we also like to treat ourselves with cakes and desserts!

SUGAR BEET

Precisely because we like sweets we felt we had to help in the production of REAL ORGANIC sugar! From start to finish!
LOCAL! The 100% ORGANIC ITALIAN sugar produced by Italy sugars is made with Italian sugar beets only and our sugar beets are one of them!

SOYBEAN

Last but not Least! We like modern slogans! Because we like to be in step with the times! Soy has always been one of our favorite crops, because of its high protein content, which we believe to be a fundamental component of a healthy diet!

CERTIFICATES

WHAT IS THE BIOLOGICAL?

A global system of farm management and agri-food production based on the interaction between best environmental practices, a high level of biodiversity, the protection of natural resources, the application of rigorous criteria for animal welfare and production suited to the preferences of certain consumers for products obtained with natural substances and processes. The organic production method therefore performs a dual social function, providing on the one hand a specific market that responds to consumer demand for organic products and, on the other, providing public goods that contribute to environmental protection and animal welfare. and rural development.

Organic farming is an agricultural production system that aims to respect the environment, natural balances and biodiversity, and which seeks to offer the consumer genuine products obtained respecting the cycle of nature. The organic farm is a single “agro-eco-system” in which human activity is inserted using techniques that respect the fertility of the soil, animals and environmental balance. These techniques exclude the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers, pesticides and veterinary medicines, and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Organic farming is an agricultural production system defined and regulated at Community level by EC regulations no. 848/2018 and CE n. 889/2008.

WHO CERTIFIES US?

NATURLAND

Naturland is an association created to promote the development of organic agriculture and global sustainability.
The association has over 100,000 farmers in 65 countries around the world and demonstrates that ecological, social and fair management, combined with cooperation between companies, leads to the realization of successful projects. In Germany alone, there are over 4,000 producers associated with Naturland.
Worldwide, most Naturland farmers are organized in small cooperatives and producer associations. Naturland therefore stands out, like no other biological association, for the harmonious duality between regionality and internationality in a globalized world.
The standards of Naturland take as a basic reference what is established by the European regulation on organic, going in some specific areas, to set more stringent criteria and requirements than those established by the European regulation.
For Naturland, ecological and social aspects have always been fixed and indissoluble points. In addition to the guidelines for the production and processing of organic products, the association has developed guidelines that provide for the annual control of the social standards of its partners and associates.
In 2005 Naturland was the first organic association to introduce social standards. For Naturland, people’s lives and their working conditions are clearly part of the concept of sustainability.
Naturland farms and processors comply with the same certification standards worldwide. The Naturland guidelines include the social section which includes human rights and the protection of children, health protection, occupational safety, freedom of assembly in the workplace and free access to union forms.
